On January 1, 2013, Charles Jeter became the first person to represent newly-created North Carolina House District 92. Since his swearing-in, Rep. Jeter (R-Mecklenburg) has worked tirelessly to not only make life better for all North Carolinians, but to make life better in his own backyard.
State Representative Charles Jeter ran on the promise of getting real results for Mecklenburg County. In just two terms, he delivered on his promise to cut taxes for working families and make state government do more with less money, earning him recognition as one of the “Most Effective Freshman Legislators” in the North Carolina House.
Representative Jeter voted to cut taxes on every purchased gallon of gas, remove limits on deductions for medical expenses and charitable giving, and lower the personal income tax rate. Now, the largest tax cut in state history will save North Carolinians billions of dollars. Charles is a leading advocate for fiscally responsible budgeting. Dedicated to making the government work more efficiently with using less taxpayer dollars and is eliminating the redundant job-killing regulatory barriers that raise costs for consumers and slow our economy down.
Prior to serving the citizens of District 92, Rep. Jeter served as a Huntersville Town Commissioner for seven years. During his tenure as commissioner, he had a track record of advocating for fiscally-responsible budgeting and working to create a business-friendly environment.
In addition to his public service as a state representative, Jeter also serves as the president of Intermodal FCL, Inc., the trucking and logistics company he founded in 2004. Charles credits a great deal of his experience in the private sector for providing insight into his positions representing the state of North Carolina. In addition to his elected office, Charles has served on the Board of the Directors of the following agencies: Lake Norman Chamber of Commerce, Visit Lake Norman, United Way of Lake Norman, Arts and Science Council, Centralina Council of Governments, Lake Norman Transportation Committee, Huntersville School Advisory Committee and the Hugh Torrance House & Store.
Rep. Jeter is a graduate of Wofford College in Spartanburg, SC, where he earned a bachelor's degree in business economics. He and his wife, Jennifer, live in Huntersville, NC, with their three children, Caroline, Ellie and Charlie.
